Clutter: A Digital Scrapbook
clutter is a mobile app that expands the junk journaling experience by allowing you to scan scraps, organize your collection, and create spreads all in one. Our mission was to carry the low-pressure, creative aspect of junk journaling into an expansive digital form that captures everyday life.

A Brand Rooted in
the Human Experience
clutter’s visual system was designed with intentionality at heart. By prioritizing simple
UI, our team created a visual foundation that placed sole emphasis on the junk journaling experience. The items collected and journals created by users are at the core of clutter’s
brand identity — the user is the designer.

Easy Collecting
& Retrieval
clutter includes a scanner that recognizes all items portrayed via the camera. Once the user selects the desired item, it is isolated and the user is prompted to name their item, add a location, and apply tags that are then organized into a collection that is accessible by a filtering system. The filtering system was designed to allow users to retrieve singular items without needing to look through their entire collection.

Mirroring the Junk Journaling Experience
One of the most defining characteristics of junk journaling is physicality — people immerse themselves in the experience by physically crafting. Our team aimed to preserve this quality within clutter by avoiding the digitization of physical materials (e.g., journals and collected items) during the process of creation.
